Hi my fellow German VX riders. I resently bought a VX 800 in Sweden, it was imported from Germany. I am now not sure if it's a 60hp or the 45hp version. How do I see that? and how do I get it to 60hp if it is the low power engine? Any hint are greatly appriciated. |

Hey Sudden!
Look at this site under the topic "Technik" (http://www.vx800.de/technik_varianten.htm). It explains the differneces at the carburator of the 60/50/34 hp models.

Hi Sudden,
my suggestion: Take a ride on the highway. If max-speed is beyond 170 km/h, then it is a 61 hp. Advantage: No dirty fingers and lot of fun.
Greetings

Thanks Lothar. So the down tuning is only in the carburators? What have they done? I have read that some other make and models have strangle washers or different throttle size. Anybody who knows the carburator specifications for the 61hp setup? My bike is a 1993 year model.
Thanks for the tip Erwin, without trying it I'm pretty sure I have the non 61hp bike. |

Hi Sudden, its me again
take a look at page 8 of this document
I suppose, your carbs has the ID-number 45C60. Take a look at it, you can find the number on the right side of the carb. The full power German version has the ID 45C50. If yours is the 45C60 you need new main-jets and new piston-valves. The strangle washers are only added for further power reducement.
Here are the Suzuki Partnumbers and (German) prices:
Piston-Valve (Front): 13500-05A10, 100.66 Euro
Piston-Valve (Rear) : 13500-38A10, 100.66 Euro
Main-Jet (Rear) : 09491-24026, 6.68 Euro
Main-Jet (Front) : Sorry.
So replace the items above, throw away any washer (if in place) and you are happy
Greetings
